His death was convenient

How many people know that JFK was in an intense battle with the leadership of Israel right before he was assassinated?

That he literally threatened to withhold support of the nation unless they stopped their nuclear weapons program.

Meanwhile, his brother Bobby Kennedy, the US Attorney General, was pressuring to have Israeli government lobbying groups formally register as foreign lobbyists. (They were and still are inexplicably exempt from that requirement.)

After Kennedy was killed, Lyndon Johnson not only opened the floodgates of weapon sales and transfers to the country (something Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman and Roosevelt were cautious about), his Department of Justice also stopped the move to force Israeli lobbyists to register as foreign nation lobbyists.

Israel also announced plans – still on the books – to build their own canal from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean straight through Gaza using mini-atom bombs to do the excavating.

This short clip is the tip of the iceberg of a much larger and more detailed story.

If all goes well, we hope to do an extended piece on this in the not-too-distant future.
