The news media announces a miracle drug.

Doctors mindlessly prescribe it based in a two minute talk with a pharmaceutical rep.

A few years later it’s quietly taken off the market because it’s too dangerous.

AZT and the entire AIDS scame was one of the most egregious examples of this.
