After 4 years of research, astronomers cannot explain a bizarre phenomenon: star KIC 8462852 shows dips in activity lasting 3-5 days at a time.
The irregular shape and volume of the dips in energy have led some scientists to believe that the star is surrounded by an alien megastructure.
The structure could be technology designed by an alien civilization to collect energy from the star.
Or, it could be hyped-up nonsense from astronomers seeking attention.
