A balanced, well thought out take Insight and historical perspective Russia continues to assert that their military presence in Ukraine is entirely peaceful. Is this entirely true? Certainly Russia has the means to take over today if they wanted to. So what’s really going on behind this story? Surely Russian propaganda plays a role, as does Eastern Ukraine and perhaps NATO’s own propaganda. A full historical background covering the facts only will paint the picture a little better for anyone trying to understand the conflict. The last one was expensive and tedious Russia’s economy turning them against the West Russians are stoic and hardy people. Tumbling oil prices & sanctions due to Ukraine are not having the effect on them that you’d think. They’re creating anti-Western resentment, rather than resentment against their own government. However, if their economy continues to tank, things could change. Even so, there is no reason to get into another cold war, or any other type of war, with Russia. The Ukraine “anti-terror” force has a bad day Reporting from Simon Ostrovsky for Vice Here’s something you don’t see every day. The troops in question are Ukrainian “anti-terror” troops and the citizens are pro-Russian protestors. Pretty calm and orderly. I’m afraid I can’t imagine our own steroid-jacked police and troops handling such a tense situation with such calm and poise.
